MERIDA - THE HEIGHTS IN THE TROPICS

Merida State is located at the Andean region (as well as its neighbor states Tachira and Trujillo) and its capital is the Merida City, also known as the "The Gentlemen's City".

In this city, the Los Andes University is one of the most traditional universities in the country and the second in terms of antiquity presenting a contrast between students from the whole country and both local and foreign tourists.

One of the attractions is the highest cable car in the world with 12.5km which reaches a distance from the Merida City to the Espejo Peak (4,765m height by the sea level) and from where you can climb to the Bolivar Peak (5,002m height by the sea level), the highest peak in the country which keeps snow almost the whole year.

From the Merida City it is possible to visit small villages, picturesque for their architecture, landscapes, crafts and the Andean typical foods.

Places to visit:
The Cable Car
Bolivar Peak
Arelos Park
The Ancient Venezuela
Chorros de Milla
Paramo La Culata
